Alessandro Delfanti
I am an assistant professor of Culture and New Media at the University of Toronto, with appointments at the
Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology and the
iSchool. In the past I have worked and/or taught at
University of California Davis,
McGill Universityand University of Milan (and visited or studied at
SISSA,
UCLA and
Edinburgh). In a previous life I have been a vet and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Parma. My research focuses on hacking, digital labour, scientific cultures, and the politics of technology. As a journalist I write about science politics and digital cultures for Italian newspapers and magazines
